About the authors
Beth Richards
has been writing
poetry for 40
years. She was
born in Marlow
in
Buckinghamshire,
but moved to
Derbyshire ten
years ago, and
now lives in
Clowne.
Charles Muller,
formerly a
University
Professor in
South Africa and
a hotelier in
Scotland, has
since 1997 been
the proprietor
of his own
publishing
business, Diadem
Books.
Also by Beth Richards:
For this slim
volume of poetry, Beth
Richards has drawn
inspiration from her own
experiences to produce a
thoughtful collection of
verse. Although the topics
vary, the overriding
message is be positive and
don’t overlook, or take for
granted, the many wondrous
gifts in your life as you
struggle over the obstacles
that fate places in your
path.
In this intriguing
collection of sincere and
heartfelt poems, Beth
Richards, the “Wise Owl”,
brings us more gems of
wisdom that become beacons
for guidance through the
everyday problems and joys
of life. Writing of
friendship, dreams, love and
destiny, her overall message
in is to be positive and to
appreciate the wondrous
gifts in our lives.
This story is based on what
a lot of us feel when our
children flee the nest! Life
is a journey. At the
beginning Carol has a dream,
which is something many of
us have and fulfil,
depending upon
circumstances. The big
question is—will we achieve,
in the end, what starts out
as a dream?

Beth Richards writes: ‘I’ve always maintained that writing poetry (and other forms of creative writing) is a gift from God.’ Here, again, the creative muse continues to inspire Beth—hence this latest book of short stories and poetry entitled Light Reading. (Discerning readers will, of course, appreciate the pun on the word Light, hopefully made clearer by Beth’s oil painting of the Baccaro Lighthouse, in Nova Scotia, on the front cover!)

A new collection of Beth
Richards' inspiring poems
and prose pieces.
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
My aim in this book of poems
and prose is to reach out to
a number of readers –
therefore I’ve written about
many different subjects,
which will almost certainly
touch the hearts of many.
Maybe some of the subjects
will even help someone with
a similar problem in his or
her life to find a solution
– a form of self-help!
PROFILES OF THE AUTHOR
(BETH RICHARDS)
Profile (No.1)
I began writing poetry 30
years ago, so my small book
entitled REFLECTIONS IN
VERSE includes poems on
many subjects usually
related to happenings in my
lifetime and people close to
me.
Inspirations come to me at
anytime. I believe that
everything we do in life
begins with just an idea;
whether we pursue it is up
to us. I will pick just one
or two poems from my book.
We all have a dream at some
time in our lives. So "Dream
Cottage" on pages 12 & 13
were my dream.
Also, many of us have a best
friend. So “My Best Friend"
is on page 22.
Many of us at some time in
our lives have a dog. So
"Pickles" on page 25 was my
dog.
We can all relate I’m sure
to "SECOND CHANCE" at some
time in our lives. My
meaning to this poem is: “We
are none of us perfect.”
I would be happy for you to
read and enjoy my small
book, or perhaps you know
someone who would like it as
a small gift. If so please
contact me
Beth Richards.

Profile (No.2)
I was born in Marlow, Bucks
and have now retired to
CLOWNE in
Derbyshire.
I began writing poetry over
30 years ago and recently
had a small book
published entitled
“REFLECTIONS IN VERSE". For
this I use my pseudonym
Beth Richards.
The poems are on various
subjects as they related to
happenings
throughout my life and those
close to me.
I believe if you have a gift
you should use it.
I also paint in oils and
enjoy both hobbies.
Everything we do in life
begins as an idea and
depends on whether we pursue
it.
To read my small book and I
hope enjoy it as my many
friends have, or to obtain a
copy, perhaps for a small
gift for someone, is
possible by contacting
myself.

Profile
(No.3)
For what it is worth my
belief is that our lives are
mapped out from the day we
are born.
Therefore my poem entitled
“DESTINY” “ on page 43 in
REFLECTIONS IN
VERSE is my way of
saying just this.
In my second book CHILL
OUT WITH BETH! GEMS FOR
YOUNG AND OLD there is a
poem entitled “JUST A
MEMORY” which is a slightly
philosophical view of mine;
it is on page 14.
This year after watching the
Remembrance Services on T.V.,
I just knew I had to write a
poem for this was all a part
of History, so I’ve written
a long poem entitled
“REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY”. It
came to me in what I call an
inspiration, but it is
really like listening to a
phone call into my mind.
If my books help someone to
deal with something in their
life, then to me it will all
have been worthwhile and
give me a feeling of great
achievement.
