This story is based on what a lot of us feel when our
children flee the nest! Life is a journey. At the beginning Carol has a
dream, which is something many of us have and fulfil, depending upon
circumstances. The big question is—will we achieve, in the end, what
starts out as a dream?
Book Description
This story happens in real life to so many people. It revolves around
love, fate, and the unexpected! Carol and Noel have reached middle age,
their two children having grown up and left home. Carol feels restless
and wants to move away from the rat race and perhaps run a bed and
breakfast or small gift shop. They encounter so many varied
complications along the way, plus the arrival of a grandchild Carol
adores and would miss terribly by fulfilling her idea. Is it any wonder
she doubts if the “Dream” will ever materialize? Would it just remain a
fantasy? It’s certainly a troubled journey, but worth following to find
out the outcome!
About the author
Poetry
is one of Beth Richard’s creative gifts. She also paints in oils. She
believes that if one has a gift one should use it. She has written many
poems on many subjects, usually related to happenings in her life and
people close to her. She says: “I think very deeply and therefore what I
write and what I paint comes right from my heart.” Inspirations come to
her at any time. “E verything we do in life begins with just an idea,”
she says, and adds, “whether we pursue it is up to us.”
Chill Out With Beth
embraces her sensitive and optimistic vision for both young and old so
that, in a sense, the reader has the benefit of two books in one! Parents
and Grandparents can read the beguiling story in the first part to their
children or grandchildren, and enjoy the poems that follow for themselves.
This volume is in effect an extension of the poet’s earlier collection
entitled Reflections in Verse.
Beth Richards has been writing poetry for thirty years. She was born
in Marlow in Buckinghamshire, but moved to Derbyshire seven years ago, and
now lives in Clowne. Journey Towards a Dream is her first
novel.

‘I’ve always maintained

God.’ Here, again, the
creative muse continues

prose pieces.
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
My aim in this book of
poems and prose is to reach out to a number of readers – therefore I’ve
written about many different subjects, which will almost certainly touch
the hearts of many. Maybe some of the subjects will even help someone
with a similar problem in his or her life to find a solution – a form of
self-help!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT is a well known
phrase, often used - and this time Beth Richards hopes her latest title
will give some readers just that - Food for Thought! In our present
generation of the 21st Century folk are living their lives as though on
a treadmill. They may be going faster and faster - but, like a
treadmill, they are going nowhere fast. Time and money seem to be of the
essence in everything. Primary Care Trusts are only interested in their
target figures!
PROFILES
OF THE AUTHOR
Profile (No.1)
I began writing poetry 30 years ago, so my small book entitled REFLECTIONS IN VERSE includes poems on many subjects usually related to
happenings in my lifetime and people close to me.
Inspirations come to me at anytime. I believe that everything we do in life
begins with just an idea; whether we pursue it is up to us. I will pick just one or two poems from my book.
We all have a dream at some time in our lives. So "Dream Cottage"
on pages 12 & 13 were my dream.
Also, many of us have a best friend. So “My Best Friend" is on page 22.
Many of us at some time in our lives have a dog. So "Pickles" on page 25 was my dog.
We can all relate I’m sure to "SECOND CHANCE" at some time in our lives. My meaning to this poem
is: “We are none of us perfect.”
I would be happy for you to read and enjoy my small book, or perhaps you know someone who would like it as a small gift. If so please contact me
Beth Richards.

Profile (No.2)
I was born in Marlow, Bucks and have now retired to CLOWNE in
Derbyshire.
I began writing poetry over 30 years ago and recently had a small book
published entitled “REFLECTIONS IN VERSE". For this I use my pseudonym
Beth Richards.
The poems are on various subjects as they related to happenings
throughout my life and those close to me.
I believe if you have a gift you should use it.
I also paint in oils and enjoy both hobbies.
Everything we do in life begins as an idea and depends on whether we pursue it.
To read my small book and I hope enjoy it as my many friends have, or to obtain a copy, perhaps for a small gift for someone, is possible by contacting myself.

Profile (No.3)
For what it is worth
my belief is that our lives are mapped out from the day we are born.
Therefore
my poem entitled “DESTINY” “ on page 43 in REFLECTIONS IN
VERSE
is my way of saying just this.
In
my second book CHILL OUT WITH BETH! GEMS FOR YOUNG AND OLD there is
a poem entitled “JUST A MEMORY” which is a slightly philosophical view
of mine; it is on page 14.
This
year after watching the Remembrance Services on T.V., I just knew I had to
write a poem for this was all a part of History, so I’ve written a long
poem entitled “REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY”. It came to me in what I call an
inspiration, but it is really like listening to a phone call into my mind.
If
my books help someone to deal with something in their life, then to me it
will all have been worthwhile and give me a feeling of great achievement.

Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance day, another year gone by,
A time to think and remember them, they didn’t want
to die,
They had to fight for King and Country, they didn’t
have a choice,
They had to leave their loved ones, their thoughts
they couldn’t voice,
Sixty years on, we the people remember the pain that
war can cause,
But has anyone learnt from the horrors of the past,
not to start these wars?
It seems not—they carry on making the same mistakes
again.
Why don’t they
listen, learn from the past? It’s really very plain,
For there is much anger and un-rest throughout the
world today,
Uprisings, trouble, hatred and violence; there must be
another way.
Each year we go on remembering the brave who fought
and died,
The wives and mothers left at home, their hopes and
fears they would hide.
Some came home wounded, disabled, troubled in their
mind,
Some came home disfigured, some of them were blind.
No doubt next year they’ll gather once again,
Two minutes of silence to reflect and think of all the
needless pain.
We can’t put right the wrongs of the past but surely
can’t they see,
Just think about the consequences of any actions,
think of the dying soldier’s last words,
What would they be? …
PLEASE REMEMBER ME…
