Do we at last have an
explanation of how the
Atlantis story came to be?
This intriguing book is an
account of the story's
origin from legendary
history through to elaborate
narrative on the part of
Plato.
Book Description
This absorbing book explores
the possibility that the
Atlantis story represents a
distortion of a number of
myths and legends already
present in the ancient
Greece and Egypt of the
time. Putting more emphasis
on Diodorus Siculus’ account
of the Atlantians, who
places this people somewhere
in Africa, is it possible
that the island Plato spoke
of was actually present in a
lake not far from a large
mountain? Piecing together
the key details given in
Diodorus, is it possible to
identify these features in
the Africa of today? In a
fascinating piece of
historical detective work,
the author is able to reveal
to the reader precisely how
a legend was born.
About the author
Born in 1969,
Greg Alexander has lived his
entire life in
South Buckinghamshire
. Although he did not attend
university after further
education, he benefited from
years of self-education in
the arts and sciences. He
claims that this has helped
him to develop the fresh and
original views that he has
on the various subjects he
has studied. Before taking
up writing as a serious
pursuit, however, he worked
for eight years as a
laboratory technician in the
healthcare industry. Besides
his original study on
Atlantis he has also written
on the subjects of
Stonehenge
and the Druids, again
arguably breaking new ground
in each area.
